First of all, I would like to thank Kashmir Cafes for inviting us bloggers for this food review; and of course, Marcus for being the man for organizing the event. This cafe is a family business. With that said, the recipes are authentic as it can get; using secret house blend spices since 1970's. What they serve here is authentic traditional and classic South Indian Banana Leaf (Also known as Yelle Sapadeh in Tamil).

You might be wondering, "old taste, new place"?. To cut the long story short, they were closed for about 7 years and now, they are back to share the good food with the Klang Valley folks! This is my first food review so its based on MY MOUTH and TOUGUE!

When I first arrived, there were already a bunch of bloggers tasting some of Kashmir Cafes's lassi. I quickly introduced myself and ordered my drink; Teh Tarik. I was still coughing la...but not that teruk. For those of you that don't know what lassi is, its an indian yogurt based drink.

Till date, I have only drank lassi at a few places and the experience ain't exactly nice. Ever ordered a mango lassi but there isn't enough mango fruit taste? Too much yogurt? Too thick? Well my friend, you're in for a treat. I'm not exaggerating but I must say, the lassi over here is DE-LI-CIOUS. No longer do you need to say "Bang, tak cukup strawberry/mango/guava la". The lassi here is rich with your choice of fruit mixture and the texture of the drink is SMOOTH without being too thick. For beginners, I'll recommended the Guava and Soursop lassi.

Next up, FOOD! We were served with 2 main attractions of the day; Briyani lamb and briyani chicken. The chicken and lamb are cooked together with Basmathi  fragrant rice to blend in with the herbs and spices. Can you imagine the taste? Heavenly. The rice isn't too oily and yet it doesn't stick to each other. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

By the way, I don't mean to break the bad news but the Chicken and Mutton briyani are available ONLY ON SUNDAYS and its while stock last. So its best to make reservations to avoid disappointments. Oh one more thing to note; no plates are allowed here! Everything is served on a banana leaf. If you ask me, I feel it makes the delicious food even more tasty!

For my vegetarian friends, Kashmir cafes did not forget about you peeps! They also have vegetarian nasi briyani :)

What is this?

This my friend is Mutton Bone Curry. By the looks of it, its just some potato covered with curry but you are FAR from your imagination. The potato and curry is packed with mutton flavor! To be honest, its kinda spicy but it doesn't kill the entire taste. The spiciness will linger for a moment before the sweet taste of mutton kicks in. For me, it was spicy!

Again, what is this?

This is their home made Prawn Ball Curry! This is one of their in house specialty and is only available on Saturdays and Sundays. Again, its kinda spicy for me but for prawn lovers, do give it a try.

I'm sure you guys have seen such soups served along side with banana leaf meals right? Some of them which I've tasted are either tasteless or just salty. From the picture it looks oily and spicy right? Looks can be deceiving. Its not spicy at all! In fact, it was like an ordinary soup; very tasty but NOT salty!. Just like what Sashie said, its a light soup taken after your banana leaf meal(optional but I would definitely recommend that you try this!).

Next up, Chicken Massala Thosai

This my friend is, is very the shiok. I spend so much time taking picture of this Thosai that by the time I wanted to eat it, the Thosai was STILL CRISPY. The chicken massala filling is awesome. Once again, the curry here is not just a bunch of thick curry flavored chicken but you can taste the herbs and spices used in cooking the chicken. I had trouble finishing this because I was quite full from the nasi briyani(both chicken and mutton!)

I gotta be honest with you, I personally don't like this drink. Before you jump to conclusion, hear me out. As explained by Sashie, everyone has different taste buds. For my case, I couldn't appreciate the taste but for others like Hui Jin, she loved it! She said the more you drink it, the more you will like it. I gave it a shot and I kena tipu; I don't like it :P

It wasn't the end yet. Next up, desserts :)

The brown dessert is called Wajik. Even though I was full, this was simply delicious. Its not overly sweet like any other typical indian dessert so don't worry about your sugar level! The orange dessert on the other hand is called Kayseri. Kesimpulannya, MUST TRY!!!! So remember to save some space for these delicacies!

    But i like the pics & your direct reviews. Me and UnkaLeong goes for BLR every week and we have tried a few good ones. Kashmir looks promising

    Thanks for dropping by. Very expensive? Sorry I can't help you with that bro(or sis). You can opt for cheaper food like a Ramly burger? If its still too expensive then buy those RM0.60 chocolate buns from Gardenia?

    I was just joking :D If its too expensive for you, feel free to enjoy your banana leaf rice else where as there are so many other options :)

    Food is very hopeless? You must have really superb taste buds. Which banana leaf place would you recommend then? Any personal favourite?
