Finally, some time to update my blog. I was away for the weekend for the RCIA retreat at Malacca; with my sayang of course. The place where we stayed was Seri Malaysia Melaka. When I told some friends where I was going, they said the hotel was kinda bad so I wasn't expecting much. Surprisingly, the hotel turns out to be not bad. It ain't 4 stars but hey, its clean, that is all that matters.
Checking in to the hotel was as simple as 1, 2 and 3; partly it was organized by the RCIA facilitators/committee.
- Sign the form upon arrival
- Collect goodie bag
- Collect room key from the receptionist
With that done, we proceeded to our room on the 3rd floor. So let me show you around alittle; Here are some shots of the room which was never shown on their website :P

You can buy almost anything, including the tissue box for RM30
Eh, screw the room, lets move on to something else. The retreat is mainly for my sayang because she is about to be baptized; jadi Catholic lor :) . I must say, the RCIA facilitators/committee members have really put a lot of effort in everything that they do. Even to the smallest item, they made sure everything is done right. Take a look at the goodie bag prepared for each one of us

By the time I finished snapping those pictures, it was already close to dinner time. We freshened up ourselves a little before proceeding to the dining area.
My room is the 3rd door from the right, highest floor.

The food selection ain't wide so we just make do with whatever was there. Pretty small restaurant/cafe but heck, we're just gonna be there for 3D2N. As usual, food pictures!
The other side is also having the same dishes.
Something tragic happened during this trip though. I somehow clumsily dropped my camera on the floor while turning it on. Yes, the camera is fucked up now and it is sent for repair (8.03.2010, Monday).
So what was this trip about?
Last day.
Fr. Albert and the committee was asking us for feedback regarding the entire retreat. To be honest, I won't say its the best but it was definitely enjoyable. Would I recommend this to others? Definitely. Food? Average...the "Okay lah" standard. Room? "Okay lah".
After checking out from the hotel, we decided to go to Jonker Street before going back to KL. Probably bad timing as it was still VERY early, 2.00pm++ but we still went for it. It was pretty easy finding the place; just follow Pusat Bandaraya signboard - literally.
For the place where I parked, NO PARKING TICKET REQUIRED. Free on Sundays! There was a shop which sells the parking coupon and the owner didn't even tell us. Well you know what, what goes around, comes around. Sure the amount is just RM0.70 for a RM0.60 parking coupon (x 2 I bought 2 coupons la) but because of jerks like him, its killing the friendly tourism culture. He might end up going bankrupt one day; there was no customer at his shop anyway.
Moving along, despite the scorching sun, Jonker Street was buzzing with people. After a short stroll by the sidewalk, there was a crowd surrounding something. As what a typical Malaysian will do, we also went to kepoh; only to find this:
And what was his reference?
Not many shops/stalls were opened because its was bloody hot and too bloody early I guess, but there were some interesting shops.
How to cool off from the bashing heat of the sun? Cendol. We stopped at this shop instead of others, partly it was said to be nice
uh, what Kopitiam
If you are a fan of Coke, first step, compare this shop's fanatic collection with yous. 1 word. IMPRESSIVE.
Coconut milk and gula melaka for pure awesomeness
Hey the Baboon House cafe belongs to a close friend of mine :)
