Mother's Day Buffet at Atrium Cafe

Atrium Cafe At Sunway Pyramid Tower Hotel

Mother's Day is just around the corner and I haven't planned anything yet. Despite being mother's day celebration, my mum would still cook her best dishes for the family. From cooking to doing the dishes after meals, its never easy. Trust me, try washing the dishes after meals for 8 or more people in the family and let me know how your back feels. I ain't complaining but I am happy that I've been there to help my mum ever since young. From sweeping, mopping, cleaning the ceiling fan, doing the dishes....well, you get my point.

With that said, Atrium Cafe at Sunway Pyramid Tower Hotel is here to celebrate Mother's Day with their wide selection of food while reminiscing to some of the greatest hits by Rod Stewart.

There is a catch though.

The singer isn't really Rod Stewart but he is, Rob Caudill. The picture you see above IS Rob Caudill. Shocking but true. Not only does he look like the legendary Rod Stewart, he sings just as well. Below is a video, just to fill you in what awaits you at Atrium Cafe on Mother's Day.

Got your attention aye? Now comes the good stuff; FOOD. Me and my friends who were invited for the food tasting session were overwhelmed with the amount of choices available. I'm gonna start off with some desserts and pastry.

Sweet desserts but decided to change focus to Sweet Becky instead :P

A unique dessert. It was really soft with jelly like texture. This one is quite on the sweet side but on Mother's Day, one may indulge guilt free.

Apple pie or some sort. Really really tasty. Noticed the layers of apples?

Roti Jala, freshly made!

At this point, I took a break from taking photographs and started eating. There were simply too many choices! Despite being a buffet, their dishes were delicious and fresh. Everyone was going for their second serving while I was finishing my first. With that said, on to round 2!

Bread and butter pudding with vanilla sauce

This is probably one of the best out of all the desserts that I've had that day. The bread and butter pudding glazed with vanilla sauce was nothing but a very sinful dessert. I was actually surprised that the bread and butter pudding was still very warm(I didnt notice the heater device). Sweet flavors were bouncing all over my taste buds soon as I took my first bite. Even with my full stomach, I ate a couple more spoonfuls.

The smoked salmon on bread was absolutely delicious. However, the bread was a little too thick to my liking. Would be better if it was sliced thinner. Other than that, all the smoked salmon dishes were spot on! The smoky flavors coming from the salmon was perfect that you won't even need to add anything else(i.e lemon juice).

Wan Tan Mee, kon lou (Dry version)

This my friend, is pure bliss. The egg noodles was cooked really well by the chef; cooked through while maintaining the springy texture of the noodles. The sauce used for the wan tan mee is absolutely delicious, sweet, a slight starchy texture and a touch of saltiness. Kinda hard to describe when you're just enjoying something this good. I also love it when the chef even added some coriander along with choy sum for that mix of fresh fragrant aroma.

The prawn dumplings are also one of the main attraction of this dish. Fresh succulent prawns in two different dumpling style; deep fried and steamed. Both of them reminds me of those served in dim sum where the steamed ones tastes and looks exactly like har gow while the fried ones are those served along side with some mayonnaise.

Like I said earlier, despite being a buffet style feast, I was surprised that the food was really good. This is probably one of the few buffet places that I would gladly recommend to anyone without worrying about the food quality.
