Kaw Kaw Burger Bakar at Wangsa Maju

DSC_1916
A huge grill for a road side/street burger stall? Yeap. That is the famous Kaw Kaw Street Burger or in Bahasa, Kaw Kaw Burger Bakar

My friends posted about this burger place a few weeks back and it caught my attention. It's located at Wangsa Maju which is far from where I live but it's just 10minutes walk from the Wangsa Maju LRT station. As I was on a long holiday, I decided to check out the burger with Marcky on Wednesday.

We arrived at the place around 7.00pm and already, a guy was grilling some burger patties on the grill. I asked if it was okay for me and Marcky to take some pictures and he was okay with it. I guess it's already a norm for him huh? But anyway, checked out the menu and some of the awesome patties on the grill.

Look at the charred lines. At this point, I was already imagining the flavors.

I got so carried away with photo taking that I didn't notice the queue; a very long queue at 7.15pm.

Yeah, this was the crowd at 7.15pm infront of us. There was also a line after our spot so you could imagine the wait. Does this set our expectations of the burger a little higher? Nah, not really.

I was posting on Path, Facebook and Twitter about the agony of waiting. I knew they would only take orders at 7.45pm and so the waiting game began. About 1 hour in and my friends were asking if the burger was that good. Dude and dudettes! We haven't even got my orders taken.

You don't say?

After 1 hours 30 minutes, we've finally reached the point where they would give you an ordering number!

And our lucky number is forty four!

As we got our queue number, we moved to the dine in only waiting area. We didn't know the current number and we simply waited and waited and waited. Suddenly, an order was ready and the guy was looking for the table with order number 27. "27!?!??"

Marcky was tired,le hungry and was trying to keep his mind off his hunger by playing Dungeon Raid.

I went to snap another photo of the patties being grilled; which made me even more depressed with the wait.

After another hour, we finally heard "Tiga puluh lapan!Tiga puluh lapan!" which was order number 38. Things were looking slightly better. 30 minutes more have passed and we heard number 43! After another 15minutes, finally, our number 44 was called.

Kaw Kaw Original Beef Burger - Double Happiness  with cheese

This was Marcky's order. The burger looks freaking tasty and the beef patties looked sinfully delicious; thick, juicy and beefy. I tried some of the beef patty and it was really good. Real natural beefy flavors with light seasoning. The presence of black pepper was obvious but it was just the right amount to add that peppery aroma in each bite. The beef patty had a nice chewy texture like how it should be while its moisture and juices were pretty much still intact despite going through the grill.

Kaw Kaw Original Crispy Chicken Burger - Double Happiness  with beef bacon and cheese

For me, I ordered the chicken version instead with addition of beef bacon. The chicken patty was crispy and fragrant. The light batter used was seasoned perfectly and it wasn't too salty. Best of all, it was all chicken thigh which made each bite juicy and "smooth". Looks similar to KFC's Zinger burger but the seasoning here is a specialty of this place.

So was it worth the wait? The burgers were definitely delicious but I think it's not worth the waiting time. I mean, 3 freaking hours! It's one of those things where you must try at least ONCE. If you are driving there, I was told to go during their off-peak hours which is approximately 10pm-10.30pm.

Anyway, the damage? Mine was RM16 while Marcky's was RM14.

Be warned, waiting time is KAW KAW.

Here is the map to get to the place.
