Simple and delicious Yong Tau Foo

A nice warm meal is never far away. Me and my friends were hungry after an event which wasn't a good experience but nevertheless, Ah Keong Yong Tau Foo was comforting. Ah Keong's stall is located at Damansara Utama's food court. If you're at the food court and facing the row of shoplot, its on the left and close to the end.

We knew we found the place right after spotting the yong tau foo ingredients from afar. A man was busy preparing orders of customers.

There was already a queue when we got there. It seems like many love the yong tau foo here; part of the reason we decided to try the place. Clean plates are stacked at the right side of his stall. Grab a plate and choose your choice of yong tau foo ingredients.

Ah Keong! Super friendly. Even sings catchy tunes like "Besok cuti, satu hari" in between preparing orders for customers; to let them know about when his stall won't be opened.

Crab sticks, fried fish cakes, bitter gourd stuffed with fish paste, fried tofu, red chilli and ladies finger stuffed with fish paste and many more; you're spoiled for choices. Once you're done with your orders, Ah Keong will heat up the food and chopping them up into smaller pieces.

You can also order some nice chee cheong fun (rice noodle roll) to go with your yong tau foo. From what I've been told, there are the normal chee cheong fun and the 'special' one. Aside from that, the chee cheong fun also come in 2 styles; one of it is the sweet sauce and chili sauce while the other is curry soup based.

'Special' Chee Cheong Fun with curry

Everything just looks good. The curry soup was simple and tasty. Light curry soup but quite fragrant thanks to the coconut milk and sesame seed. The ingredients were fresh and texture was still good. As seen in the picture, I like the fried brinjal (eggplant) stuffed with fish paste. Some places served them with overly mushy texture and bitter taste but at Ah Keong, it was just right.

I choose the special chee cheong fun. Although you can't really see what's "special" about it, it has some sort of filling compared to the plain ones. Not sure what it is but I intend to patronize the place again so do bear with me :)

So why go to Ampang when you have some delicious yong tau foo AND chee cheong fun at Damansara Utama? After all these years, look at Ah Keong's pricing. Now THATS a steal.

Oh and my order only costs RM5.

Once again, Ah Keong's stall is located at Damansara Utama's food court area. If you're at the food court and facing the row of shoplot, its on the left and close to the end.
