Cooking 101 is back! My wife and I baked our own Butter Cheese and Almond Cake. Its a very simple cake to bake. Below are the list of ingredients you will need. Do take note though, we didn't use any measurement tools so I have no idea how many grams of sugar/flour and etc is used. LOL. So it's all based on 'agak-agak'.
Ingredients:
- Sugar
- Flour. The amount is what you see in the picture above. Est: 300grams?
- Eggs. We used 4.
- Cheese
- Almonds
- Butter (250g but we're only using about half)
My wife's colleague gave us this cheese from Holland. Alice, if you're reading this, thank you :)
Whatever is left of the cheese's food label.
Separate the egg yolks
Grated the cheese till it fills up a entire yogurt cup.
Same amount goes to the almonds
Sifted flour.
Next up we're gonna beat the egg whites
Almost there.
Really, almost there.
Add the sugar as you continue to beat the egg whites.
Finally done!
How to know if it's done? Do the above :)
We're only using half of this entire butter block.
Cut them up into small pieces.
We mashed them using a fork before mixing them with the mixing machine
This is where we go auto mode!
Add the egg yolks into the mix.
Continue beating and mixing them for awhile.
Till you get something like this.
Add the butter mix into the egg whites earlier
Give it a quick stir
Add the flour and continue stirring.
Next up is the grated cheese.
Finally, we add the Almonds.
Prepare the baking tray. We used a sheet of baking paper for easy removal of the cake later on.
Pour in the cake mix into the try
Baked for about 25 minutes
There you have it, homemade butter cheese and almond cake.
Color looks different from the first picture. Might be due to lighting.
Love the almond and cheese combination.
Looks yummy.
ReplyDeletelet me try to translate the measurements for you. The yogurt cup is 135gm so it should be 2/3 cup. Half that block of butter is 125gm (1 block is 250gm). 300gm flour should be about 1 1/3 cups flour.
I prefer cup measurements rather than take the scale so the recipe should be roughly :
2/3 cup Sugar
1 1/4 cup superfine Flour
4 Eggs
2/3 grated Cheese
2/3 sliced Almonds
125gm Butter (or half a block of 250gm)
Think i'll try this once i got almonds and proper cheese. perhaps Cheddar.
Thanks Fiona!
ReplyDelete:D As for the cheese..I think cheddar would be fine too hehe
YummY ! It turned out really well I must say! And i thot baking cannot agak-agak one!
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca...haha yeah. although its all based on rough estimation...still, it came out nicely
